Novel Methods for Detecting Conductor Breaks in Power Lines

This paper summarizes commonly known broken conductor detection methods and points out their limitations. Two novel single-ended broken conductor detection methods that rely on the series arcing phenomena caused by the conductor break are introduced in this paper.
