Thyristor-Controlled Reactor Protection in Static VAR Compensator

This paper provides insight into unique aspects of TCR protection in SVCs, examines conventional protection for reactor turn-to-turn faults, and describes their limitations and challenges in TCR applications. The paper then proposes a novel logic for detecting turn-to-turn faults in a TCR.
